The 2010 Census has started. The City of Berkeley needs everyone to be counted. In addition, the Census Bureau is recruiting temporary, part-time census takers for the 2010 Census.
These short-term jobs offer good pay, flexible hours, paid training, and reimbursement for authorized work-related expenses, such as mileage incurred while conducting census work. Best of all, census takers work right in their own communities.
Census taker jobs are excellent for people who want to work part-time, those who are between jobs, or just about anyone who wants to earn extra money while performing an important service for their community.
This March, the Census Bureau is sending out questionaires in the mail. The questionaire is a short form, 10 questions, and is confidential. Please make sure and fill out the form and return it completed to the Census Bureau to make sure everyone gets counted.
Some tax dollars are allocated to the City of Berkeley based on the population counted in the Census. This means that tax dollars for certain City and School District programs or services are determined by our Census count. It is very important that all of Berkeley's residents are counted.
