SUMMARY
The City of Berkeley is looking for an individual with a high level of professional ethics, integrity, and proven
leadership skills to serve as Police Officer. The ideal candidate should be team oriented, possess exceptional
leadership, a vision to reduce crime and have a commitment to community. Strong communication skills are
essential for interactions with department employees, city leaders, and the community. Police Officers are
responsible for enforcing and upholding the laws and ordinances of our City, the State of Missouri and the
United States.

The City of Berkeley, Missouri is approximately five square miles and is located just 5 minutes from the St Louis
International Airport. We are a community on the move with nearly 10,000 residents. Berkeley is home to
Boeing, SKF Manufacturing and Express Scripts. We are 15 minutes from beautiful downtown St. Louis and
connect to three major highways, 70, 170, and 270. The City provides a full range of municipal services with
approximately 100 full-time employees. Our city hall and fire station is five-years old and our new state of the art
Police Station opened in August 2017. Berkeley Police Department is comprised of 48 employees, of whom 37
are sworn officers. The hiring process for the Berkeley Police seeks officers and staff that meet the City’s core
values with the highest level of integrity.

Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or G.E.D. All applicants must be physically fit to perform
